Farmers will plant more acres of high oleic soybeans thanks to a partnership with food and ag company Calyxt, Inc. The company recently announced it expanded its high oleic acreage to 16,000 acres in the Midwest.
Calyxt’s expansion includes 75 farmers. On average, each farmer who has planted high oleic soybeans with Calyxt more than once is doubling their acres year over year.
“With this significant milestone, we are excited to have exceeded our target range of 12,000 to 15,000 acres,” said Federico Tripodi, Calyxt CEO. “Later this year we will have enough oil to make the equivalent of over 100 million servings of salad dressings with healthier characteristics.”
